On the last Sunday of each month, we reclaim an unreleased song from the HeKz HQ vaults and breathe new life into it.
This month, we'd like to introduce you to "The Libertine."
The song was originally written back in 2012 as part of the writing sessions that would yield much of the material for our second album "CAERUS." This Victorian melodrama takes it's title from the Stephen Jeffreys' play of the same name, the film adaptation of which provided plenty of inspiration for the lyrics.
It's not often that we get to crank up the "gothic" dial but, when we do, it adds a compelling dimension to the band's sound. Songs like "Don't Turn Back," "The Left Hand of God" and "The Devil's Coin" are all good examples of the band unleashing its angsty inner darkness!
