Two weeks ago, we played our final show with James Messenger.
The Black Hand was the closing song in the set, and we managed to capture it on video. We hope you enjoy seeing him rock out with us one last time.
We also wanted to share some thoughts and memories about James and his time in the band.
“James came in to HeKz to cover some simple keys parts written for the first album. Over the following years he brought his personality and technicality to the band, adding a whole new dimension to the music. He has been integral to HeKz’s developing sound both on the albums Caerus and Invicta and on the countless stages we’ve played together. I’ll be sad to see James go, we wish him all the best in his future endeavours!” – Al Beveridge
“A committed musician, prog enthusiast, expert navigator, font of fascinating knowledge and a razor sharp wit. It has been a true pleasure to share in so many adventures with James, and he will be sorely missed. Without his valuable input and talent, HeKz would not be what it is today. His sci-fi synths, chunky Hammond riffs and stirring piano playing opened up a whole universe for us to explore, and allowed the band to achieve the sound that I had been dreaming about since I was 15 years old. Enjoy this new chapter in your life James, I wish you health, happiness and prog!” – Matt Young
“James has been an integral part of our sound for the last 6 plus years! He will be missed very much, and the band won’t be the same without him. His playing was the icing on the cake so to speak, and he is a great player. We’ve had some awesome times over the years, and his comments and sense of humour have often left us in stitches! I wish him all the very best for the future, and hope our paths cross again soon.” – Tom Smith
