James Messenger leaves HeKz

It saddens me to break the news that I’ll be leaving HeKz after our gig supporting Power Quest this Thursday. It doesn’t quite seem like six and a half years ago that Matt invited me to try out as the band’s first keyboard player – having heard Tabula Rasa only a few weeks before, it was easy to say yes! Since then, we’ve come on leaps and bounds – we’ve released two albums which I’m ridiculously proud to have helped create, and have played some gigs which I’ll always have fond memories of. The two gigs with Lonely Robot and the support shows for Maiden United are particular highlights that will stay with me forever! Unfortunately, time, distance and shifting priorities mean it’s time to move on – but there are no hard feelings whatsoever and I wish the guys all the best for the future.

I’d like to thank everyone who’s supported us along the way, everyone who’s listened to our music, bought merch or come to a gig – we wouldn’t be where we are now without you. I’d also like to thank Matt, Kirk, Al and Tom for being fantastic bandmates – I’ve grown so much as a musician in this time, and had a great laugh along the way! The band has a great future ahead, keep an eye out 🙂

Much love,

James
